HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law No. 2001-016 THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF BAYHAM BY-LAW NUMBER 2001 - 16 Being a by-law to establish a Joint Police Services Board WHEREAS paragraph 5 of Section 5 of the Police Services Act, R.S.O. 1990, chapter P.15, as amended, provides that Council may enter into an agreement under Section 10, alone or jointly with one or more Councils, to have police services provided by the Ontario Provincial Police; AND WHEREAS Subsection 10 (1) of the said Act provides that the Solicitor General may enter into an agreement with the Council of a Municipality or jointly with two or more Municipalities for the provision of police services for the Municipalities by the Ontario Provincial Police; AND WHEREAS Subsection 10 (2) of the said Act provides that in order to enter into such an agreement,the Municipality must have a Board; AND WHEREAS Subsection 10 (3) of the said Act provides that in order for two or more Municipalities to enter into an agreement under this Section, the Municipalities must have a Joint Board; AND WHEREAS the Councils of the Corporation of the Municipalities of Bayham, Central Elgin, Dutton/Dunwich, West Elgin, the Townships of Malahide and Southwold, have entered into a contract agreement with the Ontario Provincial Police to provide police services to the six(6)municipalities; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Bayham enacts as follows: 1. THAT a Joint Police Services Board, consisting of five (5) members, as provided by Subsection 27 (5) of the Police Services Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter P.15, as amended, be hereby constituted and that such board be known as the "Elgin Group". 2. THAT this By-law shall come into full force and effect on the date of its passage. READ A FIRST, SECOND AND THIRD TIME AND FINALLY PASSED THIS 1ST DAY OF FEBRUARY,2001 MAYO ' G�LERK
