THS CORPORATION OF THE VILLAGE OF PORT BURWELL
BY-LAW NO. 268
Being a by-law to authorize the borrowing
of $4500.00 to prcv'de for purchase of Fart
of Lot 10 W/S of Chatham Street having 12J acres
of land more or less in the Village of Port Burwell
WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Village of
Port Burwell has by by -law -authorized the purchase of part of
Lot 10 Chatham Street WAS,
AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to borrow for the said
purpose a sum not exceeding $4500.00 upon the credit of the
Corporation to be raised by way of promissory notes.
THEK$FORE the Council of the Corporation of the Village
of Port Burwell ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
(1) That a sun not exceeding $4500.00 be borrowed from
the Canadian ?apmrial Bank of Commerce in the Village of Port
Burwell for the purposes aforesaid.
(2) That the loan of $4500.00 be repaid over a period not
exceeding five years being 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977.
(3) That five promissory notes in the amounts of $1000.00,
1000.00, 1000.00, 1000.00, $500.00 be drawn in favour of the
Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, and each of the said notes
shall become due and payable in the respective years 1973, 19749
1975, 1976, 1977 on the Anniversary of the date of signing thereof.
(4) The Corporation of the Village of Port Burwell shall
levy on all the rateable property in the municipality an amount
over and above all other rates sufficient to meet such payment
including interest.
(5) That each promissory note shall bear interest at the rate
of 8% per annum.
(6) That each promissory note shall be sealed with the seal of
it the Corporation signed by the head of Council or by some other person
authorized by by-law to sign the same and by the Treasurer.
(7) That this by-law shall become effective upon the
final passing thereof, subject to the approval of the Ontario
Municipal Board.

first instalment be due June 21, and the second on Nov. 21, 1972. Tax penalties
on the first instalment when paid on or after June 22-1�, Aug. 1-2%, Sept. 1--31
Oct 1--4¢, Nov. 1--5%, Nov. 21--6%. Discount on second instalment when paid
on or before June 21--2%. Penalty on second instalment if paid on or after
Nov. 22--1%e 1% per month charged on all arrears.

WHEREAS the Province of Ontario has established a Provincial
Park adjace�t to the territory of the Village'of Port
Burwell, and is desirous of purchasing a supply of
potable water from the Village; and
WHEREAS the Village has water, in piped mains available at
a point adjacent to the boundary of the aforesaid
park, and is willing to sell water to the Province;
and
WHEREAS the Province and the Village have reached agreemnt
on the terms and conditions of this sale.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE VILLAGE
OF PORT BURWELL ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. The Reeve and Clerk be and are hereby authorized
and instructed to enter into an agreement, a
copy of which is attached to this by law as
Schedule "A" to sell water to the Province for
use in the aforesaid Provincial Park,
