THE CORPORATION OF THE VILLAGE OF PORT BURWELL
BY-LAW NO. 237
A By -Law to authorise the execution of an
agreement with the London Humane Society
go for carrying out the provisions of By -Law
No. 237. 1970 regulating dogs running at
large in the Village of Port Burwell.

WHEREAS it is expedient to enter into an agreement with
the London Humane Society to act as Poundkeeper for the
Village of Port Burwell.
AND WHEREAS the terms of the proposed agreement are
contained in the agreement hereunto annexed;
BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED BY The Council of the Corporation
of the Village of Port Burwell as follows:
1. That the entering into of the proposed agreement is
hereby approved and authorised.
2. That the Reeve and Clerk be, and they are hereby
authorised and directed to execute the said agreement
and to affix to it the Corporate Seal of the
Municipality.
3. That this by-law come into force and take effect on
the day of the final passing thereof.

BY-LAW N0, 240
A BY-LAW to Collect Dog Tax and to Prohibit Dogs Running at large.
WHEREAS it becomes necessary that the Village of Port Burwell pass
a By -Law for collection of Dog Tax and to prevent dogs running at
large.
Therefore be it enacted.
That every owner, possessor or harborer of a dog must each year before
April 15th, have it registered and licensed at the office of the Clerk
of the Village of Port Burvell, or other officer designated for that
purpose.
The annual license fee shall be as follows:
For the first male dog 2.50
For each additional male 5.00
For the first female dog 5.00
For each additional female 5.00
Every dog within the Village of Port Burwell, when not confined
to the dwelling or to the property of its owner or of the person
having the care of custody of the same, shall at all times be
restrained upon a leash in charge of some person*
Any male or female dog found running at large in the Village
of Port Burwell may be seized or impounded, by the Animal Control
Officer f6r the Village of Port Burwell, and any known owner or
harborer of the dog so notified.
If the dog is not claimed within three (3) days of the date of
such seizure, it may be destroyed, sold, or otherwise disposed of.
Any person claiming a male or female dog, which has been so
seized or impounded, shall pay to the London Humane Society or
other officer so designated for the purpose, the sum of $5.00 fine,
and One Dollar per day for keeping the said dog, and shall pay the
required license fee, if such has nct been previously paid for that
year, within three days of the seizure.
A$y By -Law or parts of By-laws inconsistent with this By -Law
be and the same are repealed. This By -Law shall become effective
upon the final passing thereof.

BY-LAW NO. 244 of the CORPORATION OF THE VILLAGE OF PORT BURWELL
BEING A BY-LAW WITH RESPECT TO A WATER RATE UNDER
SECTIONS 16a and 42 (6) 6F THE ONTARIO WATER R_SCURC
ES
r COMMISSION ACT, and also to rescind By -Laws No. 223 and No. 232•
WHEREAS the Corporation of the Village of Port
Burwell has entered into or proposes to enter into an
agreement with .Ontario Water Resources Commission for the
supplying of water to the Municipality.
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of
The Village of Port Burwell ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. A water rate is hereby imposed upon owners
or occupants of lands which front or abut on the
streets or parts of streets described in Schedule
"A" hereto.
2. The water rate shall be imposed in each year
commencing in the year 1970 and shall be an
annual foot frontage rate of 60 cents per foot
on the lands designated in paragraph 1 hereof.
3. (a) A reduction in the case of corner lots
at the junction or intersection of streets of 100%
of the flankage and a reduction or increase in the
case of triangular or irregularly-ahaped lots may be
made in the foot frontage rate that otherwise would
be chargeable thereon, sufficient, having regard to
the situation, value and superficial area of such
lots as compared with other lots, to adjust its
frontage charge on a fair and equitable basis.
(b) Where a lot is for any reason wholly or
in part unfit for building purposes, a reduction
may also be made in the foot frontage rate that
otherwise would be chargeable thereon sufficient
to adjust its frontage charge as compared with

'� that of lots fit for building purposes on a fair
and equitable basis.
(c) Where a ?_ot, other than a corner lot, has
two limits that abut on streets described in Schedule
"A" hereto and the sise and nature of the lot is such
that any or all of the works in such streets are not
required, a reduction in respect of the works that
are not required, so long as they are not required,
may also be made in the foot frontage rate that
would otherwise be chargeable thereon, sufficient
to adjust its frontage charge on a fair and equitable
basis.
(d) The reductions shall be made by deducting
from the total frontage of the lot liable to the
annual foot frontage rate so much thereof as is
sufficient to make the proper reduction, but the
whole of the lot shall be charged with the annual
foot frontage charge as so reduced.
l+. By-laws N. 223 and No. 232 are hereby rescinded.
5. This By -Law is subject to the approval of the
Ontario Municipal Board.
