Council Highlights
Tandem Truck Procurement
Council received a report regarding the procurement of Tandem Trucks noted as
Capital Item Nos. PW-25 and PW-29. Staff noted that if procurement was done in
2026 for these items through Canoe, there is opportunity to save $30,000. Council
approved the procurement of two (2) new Tandem Trucks as outlined in the quotation
received from Viking-Cives Ltd. for $918,430 +HST.
Drainage and Building 4th Quarter Reports
Council received reports on Drainage and Building activity from the 4th quarter of
2025.
Mental Health Supports for Public Safety Personnel Grant
Council received a report regarding a MHS4PSP Grant which is a grant for
educational opportunities surrounding mental health supports for public safety
personnel offered by the partnership of Ontario ’s Solicitor General and Wounded
Warriors Canada. Most of the Elgin County Fire Chiefs agreed to combine their grant
monies of $25,000 each with the Township of Malahide to provide more educational
opportunities.
Transportation Master Plan Comments
In December 2025, Elgin County Council approved the final draft of the
Transportation Master Plan and released it for a 30-day public review period before
adoption. Council directed staff to submit comments based on what was discussed in
the report.
