Council Highlights
Planning Reports
The Planning Coordinator presented two planning Reports:
Rezoning Application ZBA-22/24 Froese
Consent Application #79-24 Hildebrandt
All staff and/or Planner recommendations in the Reports were approved by Council.
The By-law to adopt the rezoning was adopted later in the meeting.
Correspondence for Action
Three pieces of Action correspondence were received and spoken to by the CAO
and Clerk.
Correspondence from Debbie Marlatt was received regarding alleged deficiencies in
fees charged for hall rentals. Council directed staff to review the by-law language for
hall rentals during this year’s rates and fees by-law review.
Correspondence was received from the Vienna Lions Club regarding the parking lot
and requests to have the Municipality provide insurance for the use of the parking lot
and enter into a cost-sharing agreement for same. Council provided no direction on
this matter.
Correspondence was received from the Straffordville Community Committee
regarding a request for support for Watermelon Fest as a community festival of
municipal significance. Council, by resolution, provided this support.
Straffordville Community Centre Expansion – Amending Transfer Payment
Agreement ICIP CCR
The CAO presented a Report regarding approval of the ICIP CCR scope reduction
application made in April 2023, and advised that to further proceed with the SCC
expansion project, Council was required to enter into an amending Transfer Payment
Agreement (TPA) with ICIP to reduce the scope of the project.
The Report further identified that the funding contribution was not changing despite
the scope reduction, and that Council’s assent to proceed would allow staff to
continue to work with the architect towards complete design drawings and a
tendering package for early 2025.
Council resolved to authorize the CAO and Mayor to execute the TPA. A By-law will
be before Council at the October 17, 2024 Regular Council meeting.
