Solar Eclipse – April 8, 2024
The Fire Chief/CEMC presented a Report to Council regarding the upcoming solar
eclipse on April 8, 2024. This is a rare event in southern Ontario. Staff will be
activating the Emergency Operations Centre on April 5 through April 8 for this event
as a large influx of visitors to the area may impact municipal and emergency
operations, including fire, ambulance, and road crews.

Award of Quote for GPS Surveying Equipment
Council awarded the purchase of GPS surveying equipment to Horizon Measurement
Solutions Inc. in the quoted amount of $25,000 + HST. This item was approved in the
2024-2033 Capital Budget as Item PW -17. The equipment will be used primarily for
public works and roads projects, and municipal drainage.
Planning Reports
Council received four rezoning reports and one report for an Off icial Plan
Amendment:
Rezoning – Silverthorn
Rezoning – Underhill, R & L
Rezoning – Wall
Rezoning – Graham
OPA – Underhill Farms Ltd.
Council resolved to adopt all five amendment requests. The rezoning applications
were all approved by by-law. The Official Plan Amendment has been adopted by by-
law and forwarded to the County for final approval.
Housing Enabling Water Systems Fund (HEWSF) Application
Council was supportive of a CAO Report identifying the opportunity to apply for a
grant for the Eden Pumping Station expansion. This project was approved in the
2024-2033 Capital Budget as Item WW -04 ($250,000). The project is currently with
CJDL for design engineering and background works. If successful, the Municipality
will receive up to 73.33 percent of the overall project value (up to $183,000) to help
fund construction and additional housing capacity in Eden, and assist the Province in
their housing goals.
