Highlights
Inaugural Ceremonies
At the first meeting of the 2022-2026 Council term, Inaugural ceremonies were held
at the start of the meeting. The CAO|Clerk called the meeting to order and swore in
the 2022-2026 Council.
Councillors were invited to provide statements and all members made comments
about successes and the work to come during the term.
Sanitary Capacity Report
Council received a presentation from Peter Penner (CDJL) regarding a Sanitary
Pumping Station Capacity Study for the sanitary system serving Eden, Straffordville,
Vienna, and Port Burwell.
The Report identified the current usage of the system and how capacity could be
increased in the short-term without major capital investment. Within the next five
years, Council may consider ways to increase capacity at the Wastewater Treatment
Plant in Port Burwell.
Correspondence Received
Council received correspondence from New Hope Baptist Church regarding a
request for reflectors on Highway 3 at Bayham Drive and resolved to forward the
correspondence to the MTO.
Council received other various pieces of correspondence to receive for information
and further discussed Bill 23 and the Fulton Street traffic study request. Council
directed correspondence be sent to the Long Point Region Conservation Authority,
requesting some further information on the nature of proposed expenditure increases
for 2023.
Council received correspondence from Ken Andrews of the SHF regarding the
community outdoor skating rink on the concrete pad at the Straffordville Community
Centre and resolved to approve the request.
Housekeeping Matter for Clarke Road
Council received a Report from the CAO regarding a housekeeping matter to clean
up the title of a section of Clarke Road. Council resolved to authorize the Mayor and
Clerk to execute require documentation to transfer the identified portion of Clarke
Road into Municipal ownership.
