1. Call to Order
Chair Bev Hickey called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm
2. Disclosure of Pecuniary Interest None.
3. Review of Items Not on the Agenda Items to be discussed as they arise.

6. Approval of Previous Minutes
It was moved by Chuck Buchanan and seconded by Albert White that the minutes of the
April 13th, 2016 meeting be approved. Motion Carried.
7. Correspondence
7.1 For information only
(a) Minutes of the April 19/16 EdisonFest committee meeting
Minutes of the April 19th meeting were provided for review. A further meeting
was held last night, with another upcoming as needed.
(b)Doors Open flyer
Doors Open East Elgin will be on September 24th,from 10am—4pm. There is a
great photo of our Lighthouse on the flyer. The Board will make a schedule of
volunteers during a future meeting. Staff will no longer be working during the
Doors Open event, so volunteers will need to be available to answer questions and
tidy up for the event.
7.2 Action required
(a) Ontario Medal of Good Citizenship
The invitation for nominations for the Ontario Medal of Good Citizenship was
reviewed.
It was moved by Chuck Buchanan and seconded by Susan Start to nominate
Albert White as a candidate for the OntarioMedal for Good Citizenship. Carried.
The nomination will be put forth for Municipal support and then Chuck Buchanan
and Bev Hickey will take care of putting the nomination forward.
8. Unfinished Business:
A. Follow up from Susan Start regarding Talbot maps
Archives of Ontario have given permission for copying Colonel Talbot's maps of
Bayham Township, but there is a cost for a digitized version of the map.
Motion made by Susan Start, seconded by Ron Bradfield, to ask the Municipality to
obtain a digital copy of the Colonel Talbot's maps of Bayham township for display at the
Marine Museum at the cost of$33.80 with the cost being drawn from the Museums
Bayham budget. Motion Carried.
The Museums Bayham Board has contact information and ordering details once approved.
B. Chairperson Report
A follow-up of items from April's meeting were reviewed.
1. The possibility of providing a gratuity to Bayham Family Table had been discussed. It
would be a conflict of interest for the owner, Randy Breyer,to accept a gratuity.
2. Information and request for signs for the Edison Museum will be put on the next Council
agenda.
3. The 2016 budget has not been passed yet. A copy will be obtained when available.
4. The scientific bouy requires pressure washing and painting. It has been advised that
summer students may do the work with the assistance of Museum Board members. Other
items will be pressure-washed as well. Chuck Buchanan will look after getting paint
from Duplex.
5. Approval has been obtained from Council to increase the entrance fees for lighthouse and
museum. Fees will be as follows: Under 12 years free, Adults (13+) $3.00 per person for
one site & $5.00 per person for both sites,Family $8.00 per family for one site & $12.00
for both. An annual pass will be available for$15.00.
6. Hiring: Interviews were conducted on Wednesday, April 27th by Margaret Underhill,
Brenda Gibbons, Chuck Buchanan and Bev Hickey. Three students were interviewed.
Three more students were interviewed on Thursday, May 5th by Margaret Underhill and
Brenda Gibbons. Stepahnie VanWynngarden, Amanda Harris and Emily Evanitski are
anticipated to start work the week of May 16th. Our Museum Curator is Jennifer
Beauchamp, and will begin the week of May 16th as well.
C. Resolutions passed by Council
It is confirmed that the previous recommendations from former minutes have been
followed up on and confirmed.
D. Memos from Margeret Underhill & Brenda Gibbons re curator& students
hired
Memos were shared with members to outline the hiring of the above mentioned positions,
as well as to note that Jennifer Beauchamp would be at the Municipal office on May 9th
for a meet and greet followed by a tour of the Museum facilities.
E. Establish a list of desired projects & or duties for Curator& students to
complete this summer.
It was agreed that a priority is the cleaning up and painting of the scientific buoy and the
air intake. In addition,the Curator will take leadership of new exhibits, sign changes and
the creation and promotion of a season pass. The new Curator will be invited to a
Museums Bayham meeting in June.
9. New Business.
A. Suggestions from Susan Start regarding improvements to the Museum
The vent covers on the front of the Museum are deteriorating. There is a vent cover
broken high on the west wall, south of the door. The second vent cover is also yellowed.
It was moved by Susan Start and seconded by Chuck Buchanan that the 2 vent hoods be replaced
on the west wall of the museum due to disrepair. Motion Carried.
B. Memo from Lynda Millard requesting assistance at Edisonfest
Edisonfest will be from 10 - 5 on Saturday, June 4th. Bev Hickey offered to volunteer at
the Marine Museum on Saturday, June 4th. Chuck Buchanan will volunteer at the Lighthouse.
Students regularly working at these locations will be available to help at the Edisonfest.
C. 2017 London Boat Fishing and Outdoor Show
The renewal package for 2017 London Boat Fishing and Outdoor show February 24-26,
2017 has been received. Booth#120 has been offered(10 x 10 ft).
It was moved by Ron Bradfield and seconded by Chuck Buchanan that we submit the application
for 2017 by the July 15th early bird rate deadline. Motion carried.
D. Canada Cultural Spaces Fund
Information was shared from the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund, offered by the Federal
government, asking for application for funding as required. Applications are received on an
ongoing basis. The email will be forwarded by the Chairperson to share the links with the Board
Members. Information to be reviewed and then discussed at the June meeting.
E. For information
Trinity Anniversary
Trinity Anglican Church 180th Anniversary&Founder's Day will be celebrated with an
11:30 service on May 22, 2016 with a luncheon to follow.
Periscope Playhouse
June 9th will be the opening of the new Periscope Theatre and Cultural Centre.
10. Finances (Budget):
None.
11. Other Business
(a) Report from Chuck regarding the EON meeting
The Railway Museum student training session will be held June 6th,2016. The Museum
and Lighthouse will need to be manned for students to be able to attend. An application has been
submitted to host the OMA conference in Woodstock, Ontario. This will also include tours, etc.
through Elgin, Oxford and Norfolk counties either next year or the year after.
12. Next Meeting
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 15th, 2016 at 7.00 pm at the Municipal
office. (Moved one week to recognize the opening of the Periscope Theatre and Cultural
Centre).
13. Adjournment
It was Moved by Albert White that the meeting be adjourned at 8:35 pm.

Dear Chairperson& Museums Bayham Board members,
lam writing to inform you that I must regretfully resign as a member of the Museums Bayham Board,
effective May 31st, 2016,
I have very much enjoyed the meetings and taking part in the many decisions that shape our
community's appreciation of Bayham's very rich and significant history. In addition, I truly appreciate all
of the volunteer hours that each Board member has dedicated to the Museum Board and its various
projects and committees.
Please do feel free to call on me to volunteer for any of the special events that are regularly supported
by the Museums Bayham Board.
