5. CORRESPONDENCE:
i) A thank you note from the Villages of Port Rowan and Long Point
Bay for the tour on Sept. 10 during their annual road rally. A $140
donation accompanied the note.
ii) An email from Bill Knifton, Bayham's CBO, regarding the
condition of the Edison Museum's north wall. Although the bricks are
not apt for fall anytime soon, there is moisture between the two brick
walls and he does not feel that it would be worth repairing the damage.
He advised that we watch for cracks inside the building. He doesn't
recommend that an engineer do an inspection at this time but that he
visit the site again in 6 months. It was moved by J.Woon and seconded
by B.Masschaele that CBO Knifton be directed to inspect the Edison
Museum again in 6 months. Motion Carried.
iii) An email from L.Millard advising of an Edison artefact advertised
for sale from Swan Auctions in New York.

B) Edison Museum Report: Summer students have submitted a year-end
report. J.Woon reported that there is some water damage to the ceiling in
the "invention room". Although no water appears to be dripping, peeling
paint is falling on the artefacts. J.Woon will move the artefacts away from
the damaged ceiling but needs help. J.Woon also reported that the
dehumidifier in the kitchen must have a plugged hose because instead of
draining into the sink, the reservoir is filling up and triggering the machine
to shut off.
D) Barn Quilt Report: C.Buchanan reported that things are moving along
slowly. Elgin's grant money ($44,000) is in the bank however although
the committee has approved 25 potential sites, only 15 of them have
permission to proceed from the landowners. Bayham is approved for 3
sites; by the lighthouse, at M & R Orchards and on Eden Line, east of
Hwy#3.
E) New Edison Building Committee: J.Woon reported that Steelway has
provided quotes for two different sized steel buildings. $81,330. for a 60'
x 80' x 18' high building. $90,290.00 for a 60' x 100' x 18' high building.
Both buildings include a mezzanine for storage. Both quotes include
delivery to the site. Quotes do not include a floor, a heating system or
electrical. Harris Teall is seeking quotes for erecting the building and for
the concrete. It is believed that there is approx. $45,000 in the new
building fund.
F) E.O.N. Meeting: B.Hickey and C.Buchanan attended the September 1,
2011 meeting at the St.Mary's museum. The nomination committee has
decided to split the executive committee's terms of service into 2 halves.
Half the executive will have expiry dates one year, the rest on the
following year to provide for some continuity. The next EON meeting will
be held on Nov.3 at the Gay Lea Dairy Museum in Malahide.
7.MATTERS OUT OF THE MINUTES:
a) Ontario & American Flags: C.Buchanan has purchased a new
Ontario and a new US flag from "Flags Unlimited" during a
recent trip, thus saving us shipping charges. Price was $36.50
and $38.50. Committee members agreed that C.Buchanan should
be reimbursed.

Shores Wind Interpretive Centre. C.Buchanan and B.Hickey manned the Marine
Museum. J.Woon manned the Edison Museum. About 78 visitors went through the

recent newspaper article written about Thomas Edison and the
village of Vienna. J.Woon took the article for inclusion in Edison
Museums files.
c) 1914 WWI medal donation: Robert Coderre has offered to
donate a 1914 WWI army medal belonging to a former Vienna
resident named Balcom. The rim of the medal is engraved with
the service number so we can research to discover details about
the recipient. It was moved by J.Woon and seconded by
C.Buchanan that we accept the 1914 WWI medal from
R.Coderre. Motion Carried. J.Woon will complete the
paperwork and send a thank you letter to Mr. Coderre.
