Brian Masschaele, Ray Maddox, L.Millard Regrets: Councillor Tom Southwick, Ron Bradfield 1. CALL TO ORDER: Chairman called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm 2. DECLARATION OF PECUNIARY INTEREST: None 3. AGENDA: It was moved by M.Schafer and seconded by C.Buchanan that the agenda be approved with additions. Motion Carried. 4. MINUTES: It was moved by L.Acre and seconded by M.Schafer that the minutes of the September 11, 2013 meeting be approved as written. Motion Carried. 5. CORRESPONDENCE: *email from Ontario Ministry of Citizenship & Immigration together with Ministry of Tourism, Culture & Sport regarding "building Stories" an online interactive inventory for Historic Sites in Canada. *OMA eNews Alert regarding 2014-2015 Museums Assistance Program (map) guidelines * email from Jo-Ann Hutchison (MCI) regarding Celebrate Ontario grant program , Volunteer Service Awards, Culture Development Fund, On-line Health & Safety training and Digital & Social Media Workshop. 6. MATTERS OUT OF THE MINUTES a) Doors Open East Elgin: C.Buchanan & A.White reported that approximately 80 people visited both the lighthouse and Marine Museum. It was noted that one couple came from Holland while another couple from Ashtabula, Ohio. The Edison Museum had 47 visitors, as reported by B.Hickey and R. Maddox. One visitor came from Grenfield Village in Michigan and another was assisted by R.Maddox to fill in some missing genealogy information. It was mentioned that Elgin County's "Cruise the Coast" waterproof maps brought some folks to Port Burwell. b) Anchor Repairs: A.White donated the wood for this repair. He delivered it to Mr. Eicher's shop. MUSEUMS BAYHAM October 9,2013 -2- c) 2014 Draft Budget: L.Millard was in attendance to guide us through this exercise. It was decided to add $300 to Equipment/Computer Maintenance and also to add $1,000 to Collection Reserve. A discussion regarding summer students resulted in the decision to continue for another year to seek a qualified student to act in a supervisory role. It was moved by R.Maddox and seconded by C.Buchanan that we approve the 2014 Draft Operational, Capital & Reserve Budgets as amended. Motion Carried. d) Edison Night Fundraiser: Members volunteered items to decorate the hall. Ticket money and raffle money was handed in. Members were reminded to secure items for door prizes and silent auction items. 7. NEW BUSINESS: a) Local Auction: Nov. 7 Lloyd Cowan is auctioning off historical items from his personal collection. Of interest to our collection are some postcards depicting Bayham sites. b) Bayham Historical Society Meeting: Thursday Oct. 10, 2013 @ 7:30 pm at the Vienna Community Centre, Mike Baker, Elgin County Museum Curator will dress like Mahlon Burwell and give a presentation of his life. c) Bayham Historical Society's Fundraising Tea: Saturday Oct. 19, 2013 at Corinth Church. 9.
