6. MATTERS OUT OF THE MINUTES
a) Edison Fest Committee: Edison Night tickets are now on sale.
Saturday November 16, 2013 at the Vienna Community Centre.
$25/person includes perch dinner, silent auction, live
entertainment, karaoke and door prizes. Please let Lynda Millard
know by the end of September the number of tickets that you have
commitments for so the fish can be ordered. Volunteers are needed
on Nov.15 & 16 to set up the hall & decorate, greet people at the
door, work the silent auction, sell bar tickets, tend bar, clean up
afterwards. Silent Auction items are needed. Please drop them off
at the office.
b) GWTA Bike Tour: On August 15, 2013, 225 bikers arrived in
Pt.Burwell to tour HMCS Ojibwa. While they were waiting, about
a dozen toured the Marine Museum & Lighthouse or had lunch at
local restaurants. Bayham provided jugs of water for the bikers.
7. NEW BUISNESS:
a) 1945 Johnson 10 HP Boat Motor: The committee decided not to take
action on this acquisition since we already have this motor.
b) Piano Donation: As this item does meet our collection's mandate, we
will respectfully decline its donation.
c) Open Flags: Our current flags have become torn from weather and will
need to be replaced prior to 2014 season. B.Hickey will order 3 more
sometime in January.
d) Port Burwell Historical Society Request: It was moved by L.Acre and
seconded by A.White that the Port Burwell Historical Society be allowed to

the membership list, ensuring that all members are paid up. There is still
some money in the "barn quilt" account and 5-6 more quilts are planned for
Elgin County, but EON is no longer in charge of this project. C.Buchanan
has sent away the nomination papers for the annual Volunteer Service
Awards.

f) 2014 Draft Budget: We will be discussing next year's budget at our
Oct. Meeting. M.Schafer suggested that our budget should include a modest
amount for "artefact acquisition". It was noted that we are currently over
budget in "ads/brochures/TODS" because this was the year that we
reprinted our brochures.

Church, Weiler's Furniture Gallery, M & R Orchards, Port Burwell Marine
Museum & Historic Lighthouse, Edison Museum of Vienna and the Wind
