Minutes of March 13, 2013 Meeting
Bayham Municipal Office, Straffordville,Ontario
Present: Chair-Bev Hickey, Vice Chair- Chuck Buchanan, Secretary- Lynn Acre,
Ray Maddox, Brian Masschaele, Ron Bradfield, Albert White
Regrets: Anna Schafer, Matt Schafer
Absent: Councillor Tom Southwick
1. CALL TO ORDER: Chairman called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.
2. DECLARATION OF PECUNIARY INTEREST: None
3. AGENDA: It was moved by L.Acre and seconded by B.Masschaele
that the agenda be approved. Motion Carried.
4. MINUTES: It was moved by C.Buchanan and seconded by
B.Masschaele that the minutes of the February 13, 2013 meeting be
approved as written. Motion Carried. L.Acre expressed gratitude to
A.Schafer for taking the minutes at the February meeting.
5. CORRESPONDENCE - none
6. MATTERS OUT OF THE MINUTES
a) Edison Fest Committee: B.Hickey reported that the planning
committee met on Feb.26 and is progressing well. Further quotes will
be sought for hiring horse-drawn wagon rides. John Giesbrecht, Tony
Tait and Frank Benner were mentioned as possible options. Edison
Fest is scheduled for Saturday June 1, 2013.
b) 2013 Aylmer Home & Rec Show-April 12, 13 & 14, 2013: Port
Burwell Historical Society has agreed to partner with Museums
Bayham on this. Volunteers to work at the booth will be determined at
our April meeting.
c) 2013 St.Thomas Home & Rec Show: March 22, 23 24, 2013
C.Buchanan will transport our artefacts to St.Thomas and set up the
display on March 22. He will also contact M.Baker to see what time
slots need volunteers. B.Hickey is available on March 23.

d) Lighthouse windows: R.Bradfield reported that Clera Brantford
will contact him early next week to set up a time to install new
windows, which he advises should be delayed until warmer weather.
d) New Edison Museum Building Committee: Annual Fundraising
Dinner Dance: L.Millard advises that the Vienna Community Centre
has been booked for Nov.16, 2013 and that "Back to the 50's" band is
available that date. Although it was agreeable to members to hire
them, it was decided to postpone a decision until sub-committee
chairman M.Schafer returned from vacation.
e) Flags: C.Buchanan reported purchasing a new Ontario flag and a
new US flag as per prior discussions. It was moved by R.Maddox and
seconded by A.White that C.Buchanan be reimbursed $84.75 for the
flags. Motion Carried. It was noted that our "Project Ojibwa" flag has
disappeared from the flagpole and needs to be replaced.
8. NEW BUISNESS:
a) Amendments to 2013 Operating Budget: it was moved by C.Buchanan
and seconded by B.Masschaele that in compliance with Council's
instructions to reduce our 2013 budget by $8,910.00, Museum Bayham
approves the reductions as discussed. Motion Carried.

b) Wind Interpretive Centre Management: Since Museums Bayham's
students typically staff the WIC and coordinate tours among the other
museums, and since there have been few meetings of the WIC's committee,
it was moved by C.Buchanan and seconded by B.Masschaele that Museums
Bayham recommend to Council that they would oversee the Wind
Interpretive Centre's management pending clarification of budget
requirements. Motion Carried.
9. NEXT MEETING: Wednesday April 10, 2013, at 7:00 pm Municipal
office.
10. ADJOURNMENT It was moved by Albert White and seconded by R.
Bradfield that the meeting be adjourned at 8:00 pm.
