Minutes of January 9, 2013 Meeting
Bayham Municipal Office, Straffordville,Ontario
Present: Chair-Bev Hickey, Vice Chair- Chuck Buchanan, Secretary- Lynn Acre, Ray
Maddox, Matt Schafer
Regrets: Anna Schafer, Brian Masschaele, Ron Bradfield
Absent: Councillor Tom Southwick
Guest: Albert White (3rd visit)
1. CALL TO ORDER: Chairman called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.
2. DECLARATION OF PECUNIARY INTEREST: None
3. AGENDA: It was moved by M.Schafer and seconded by C. Buchanan
that the agenda be approved. Motion Carried.
4. MINUTES: It was moved by L.Acre and seconded by C. Buchanan
that the minutes of the December 12, 2012 meeting be approved as
written. Motion Carried.
5. CORRESPONDENCE
-various cultural & historical magazines
6. MATTERS OUT OF THE MINUTES
a) Edison Fest Committee: B.Hickey volunteered to attend the 7pm
Jan.22, 2013 planning meeting at the Vienna Community Centre.
b) 2013 Aylmer Home & Rec Show: C.Buchanan completed the
application form. L.Millard enclosed a cheque and mailed it off.
c) 2013 St.Thomas Home & Rec Show: March 22, 23 24, 2013. Mike
Baker of Elgin County Museum would like to borrow some of our
artefacts and conscript some volunteers to work at this show.
C.Buchanan agreed to find out how much space is available for
Bayham's artefacts.

d) Lighthouse windows: no report.
e) New Edison Museum Building Committee: A meeting was held
Nov. 27, 2012. Chairman M.Scafer reported that he and Harris
Tea11 met with Bill Knifton to discuss our plans. We do need a site
plan which can be prepared by volunteer Lew Acre. A quote for
the boiler is still outstanding. A mechanical engineer is needed for
a report on the air handling system. Before any engineers are
retained, H.Teall recommends that we approach council for a loan.
It was noted that Songbird's was inspected by an engineer and
quotes $500,000 to bring it up to standards. A.White warned that
mechanical requirements need to be determined prior to erecting
the building to ensure that it can support the weight of any air
handling equipment. He agreed to speak to his heating contacts for
quotes. A.White agreed to consider joining the New Edison
Building committee.
8. NEW BUISNESS:
a) New Member to Museums Bayham: Since Albert White has completed
the volunteer membership application form and this is his 3' consecutive
meeting as a visitor, it was moved by R.Maddox and seconded by M.Schafer
that Albert White be accepted as a voting member of Museums Bayham.
Motion Carried.
b) 2013 Executive Positions:
It was moved by C.Buchanan and seconded by R.Maddox that Bev Hickey
be reappointed as Chairman of Museums Bayham. Motion Carried.
It was moved by R.Maddox that nominations for Chairman be closed.
Motion Carried.
It was moved by R.Maddox and seconded by L.Acre that C.Buchanan be
reappointed as Vice-Chairman of Museums Bayham. Motion Carried.
It was moved by M.Schafer that nominations for Vice-Chairman be closed.
Motion Carried.
It was moved by C.Buchanan and seconded by M.Schafer that L.Acre be
reappointed as secretary. Motion Carried.

It was moved by M.Schafer that nominations for secretary by closed. Motion
Carried.
Chairman Hickey thanked everyone for their willingness to stay on for
another year. R.Maddox expressed an interest in becoming more involved
with the Edison Museum. He would like a key and the password for the
alarm system.
9. NEXT MEETING: Wednesday February 13, 2013, at 7:00 pm
Municipal office.
10. ADJOURNMENT It was moved by M.Schafer and seconded by R.
Maddox that the meeting be adjourned at 8:00 pm.
