Minutes of February 12, 2014 Meeting
Bayham Municipal Office, Straffordville,Ontario
Present: Chair-Bev Hickey, Vice Chair- Chuck Buchanan, Secretary- Lynn Acre, Matt Schafer,
Ron Bradfield, Brian Masschaele
Regrets: Councillor Tom Southwick, Susan Start (guest), Anna Schafer, Albert White
Absent: Ray Maddox
1. CALL TO ORDER: Chairman called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm
2. DECLARATION OF PECUNIARY INTEREST: None
3. AGENDA: It was moved by M.Schafer and seconded by B. Masschaele that
the agenda be approved with additions. Motion Carried.
4. MINUTES: It was moved by L.Acre and seconded by M.Schafer that the
minutes of the January 8, 2014 meeting be approved as written. Motion
Carried.
5. CORRESPONDENCE: None
6. MATTERS OUT OF THE MINUTES
a) Anchor Repairs: The repaired anchor is still being stored in
R.Bradfield's shop since there has been too much snow to remount it.
b) Flags: B.Hickey got 3 Canadian flags from Joe Preston's office.
c) London Boat, Fishing & Outdoor Show: We are allowed 6 exhibitors
badges which B.Hickey will pick up on Thursday. He will deliver them to
those who will be tending the exhibit. Members made arrangements to load
up artefacts and supplies, deliver them to London and set up the exhibit. We
will be showing a documentary of the delivery of FMCS Ojibwa at the
exhibit. Volunteers to tend exhibit #626 are;
Friday Feb.21 : all day Matt. & Anna Schafer
Saturday Feb.22: 10 am — 1 pm Lynn Acre
1 pm -4 pm Bev Hickey
4 pm — 7 pm Ron & Bonnie Bradfield
Sunday Feb.23: all day Chuck & Dorothy Buchanan

d) Edison Fest 2014: The sub-committee met January 25 to discuss food,
games and entertainment. This year the Silent Auction will be run by Trinity
Anglican Church. Profits will go to the church unless items were specifically
donated for Edison Fest. Bev Hickey is negotiating an agreement for horse
drawn wagon rides with Deb & John Giesbrecht.
e) Request from Randy Breyer: Mr. Breyer has taken a photograph of our
framed picture of the Edison Homestead and is satisfied with the results.
f) Light Covers &Disposal of fluorescent light tubes: L.Millard has
ordered a box of 10 light covers ($100). We still have a box of 15 brand
new 8-foot fluorescent tubes to be given to a good home and another 18 that
need to be disposed of Brian Masschaele will ask if any of the County's
building still use them. Matt Schafer will also ask around.
6. NEW BUSINESS:
A) Demolition of Old Vienna Town Hall: Various members committed to
meeting on Feb.13 at the Old Vienna Town Hall to inspect items stored
there and to determine their value and possible use.
B) Elgin County Museum Strategic Plan: Brian Masschaele thanked
Chuck Buchanan for his participation in the Feb.7, 2014 Strategic
Planning meeting to plan for a new Elgin Museum/Courthouse. He
encouraged members to participate by filling in a survey found at any
branch of Elgin library. 100 survey responses are needed.
C) Heritage Committee: Members decided that our current mandate is
restricted to managing the two museums and agree that if such a
committee were to be established, it should be separate from Museums
Bayham.
D) EON Survey & Next Meeting: Chuck Buchanan has already taken care
of the survey for us. The next meeting is scheduled for March 6, 2014 at
9:30 am at Annandale House in Tillsonburg.

9. NEXT MEETING: Wednesday March 12, 2014, at 7:00 pm Municipal office.
10. ADJOURNMENT It was moved by Ron Bradfield and seconded by
M.Schafer that the meeting be adjourned at 8:15 pm.
