NEW BUSINESS:
a) 2015 Location of Edison Museum: On June 18 Bayham Council will
finalize lease agreement for the current Elgin Ambulance building located
on the main street, Plank Road, in Vienna. Elgin County's lease is paid
through till September 2015 but they will be vacating the building this
month. We will be using the space for a store-front display during July —
Sept. It was suggested that a sandwich board sign and/or banner be placed
on the building.
b) Questions Regarding the Future of Edison Museum:
i) Where to Store the Edison Artefacts if the Snow Street
Building/Property Sells? It was decided to be proactive in planning where
the Edison artefacts would be relocated rather than waiting until it became
an emergency situation. Some suggestions were made, but all were
problematic.
ii) Where will the proceeds from the Sale of the Building/Property go? Is
the property registered to return to the original donor if not used for a
museum? M.Schafer will examine the original donation documents to see.
Will the proceeds go into the New Edison Museum Building Fund? It was
moved by M.Schafer and seconded by C.Buchanan that Museums Bayham
requests confirmation from Bayham Council as to where the proceeds of the
sale of the Snow Street Building & Properties will go. Motion Carried.
c) Confirmation of Museums Bayham Membership: While we are pleased to
learn that Council has decided to continue the existence of this committee,
the committee respectfully requests confirmation of our individual
appointments especially that of our newest member Kimberly Legg.
d) Best Wishes to Chuck Buchanan: On behalf of all committee members,
Chairman B.Hickey expressed "best wishes" and "speedy recovery" to
C.Buchanan as he has cancer surgery on June 23.
9. NEXT MEETING: Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at 7:00 pm Municipal office.
It was noted that Susan Start is appointed "acting secretary" in the absence of Lynn
Acre for July's meeting.
10. ADJOURNMENT: Moved by R.Bradfield that the meeting be adjourned at
8:35 pm. Motion Carried.
