MATTERS OUT OF THE MINUTES a) Wheel House Update: A delegation from the Port Burwell Historical Society came before council on Dec.18, 2014 to request permission to place this artefact on municipal property (Marine Museum parking lot). No official permission has yet been received. The Wheel House Committee is currently choosing a trucker to transport the wheel house to Port Burwell prior to "half-load" season. The Wheel House will be placed on private property when it arrives so it can be re-assembled and painted before it is mounted on municipal property. Mayor Ens and Councillor Breyer have attended the Marine Museum parking lot to see where the committee plans to locate this artefact. No concerns were expressed with this location. Community support and donations have been steady. The Historical Society has applied for federal "Celebrate Canada" funding to purchase a banner for the Wheel House's grand opening on Canada Day. b) Certificate of Appreciation for Brian Masschaele: This certificate was presented at the Dec.18, 2014 Council meeting. It was also noted that the Marine Museum & Lighthouse have seen a significant increase since the HMCS Ojibwa arrived. d) Bayham's Economic Development Report: S.Start noted that an excellent report was recently presented to Bayham Council which advises promotion of Bayham's heritage and signature events.
