Minutes of July 25, 2012 Meeting
Bayham Municipal Office, Straffordville,Ontario
Present: Chair-Bev Hickey, Vice Chair- Chuck Buchanan, Brian Masschaele, Jean
Woon, Anna Schafer, Matt Schafer, Ron Bradfield
Regrets: Lynn Acre, Ray Maddox
Absent: Councillor Tom Southwick
1. CALL TO ORDER: Chairman called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm and
welcomed Ron Bradfield back.
2. DECLARATION OF PECUNIARY INTEREST: None
3. AGENDA: It was moved by Chuck Buchanan and seconded by Matt
Schafer that the agenda be approved. Motion Carried.
4. MINUTES: It was moved by J. Woon and seconded by C. Buchanan
that the minutes of the June, 2012 meeting be approved as written.
Motion Carried.
5. CORRESPONDENCE: Applications for volunteers at the Ojibwa
Project can be dropped off at the Marine Museum. Bev will take the
current applications
6. MATTERS OUT OF THE MINUTES
a) Bench at Edison Museum: Chuck Buchanan has repaired the bench
at the Edison Museum, the girls can now paint it.
b) The Hupmobile Car Rally: The rally was a great success with the ----
oldest car being a 1912 model.
7. REPORTS:
a) Edison Museum: Lynda Millard will look after getting blinds for
the Ladies Parlour and the Bayham Room. Mice are still present in the
museum, the possibility of an Electric device possibly from TSC is to be
investigated.
Carried. John Guenther and Mr. Muelemester are possibilities to be
contacted.
12. Bev Hickey: Copies of the "Star Weekly" from the opening of the St.
Lawrence Seaway and the "Britanica" from when Bev was serving on
her. He is donating these to the Marine Museum and will also write
something to go with the artifacts about his experiences at that time.
13.Moved by C. Buchanan seconded by B. Masschaele to accept the
Liberty Clock and other artifacts from Abigail Becker display.
Carried.
14. Wind Interpretive Centre: C. Buchanan repaired model of Windmill.
A new mast is needed for the flagpole 8' x 3/4" dowel can be used to
replace the pole.
15.Marine Museum Sign: C. Buchanan has a quote of$200.00 to
replace. Moved by J. Woon, seconded by B. Masschaele to have sign
replaced. Carried.
16. Next meeting: September 12,2012 at 7:00 PM at the Edison
Museum.
17. Council representation: We consider council representation very
important to this committee especially at this time of changes. We
hope to have the input from council to this committee on a regular
basis.
