Confidential Discussion Regarding Acquisition of Property in Vienna
A written report was submitted by Jean Woon, Chairman of the new Edison Museum
Building Committee. Most committee members contributed to the discussion
regarding costs of erecting a new building versus the cost of purchasing Songbirds
and renovating it to meet museum standards. The committee acknowledged that
further major investment into the current property on Snow Street was neither
desirable nor necessary at this time.
It was moved by J.Woon and seconded by R.Maddox:
Be it resolved that Museums Bayham committee does not deem the property known
as Songbirds to be a suitable facility for Museum activity:
And be it resolved that Museums Bayham recommends to Bayham Council not to
pursue the purchase of Songbirds_for this purpose;
And be it resolved that the construction of a new facility is the preferred option for
any future relocation of the Edison Museum:
And that the value of the current building and property should put towards the
expense of a new construction;
And that such new construction shall serve as a stable storage facility costing
S215,493.00 with future improvements and upgrades to become a fully functional
museum funded through committee fundraising efforts.

Restoration of Bench: A church pew bench, located on the front porch of
the Edison Museum needs some reinforcement. C.Buchanan will examine it
and attempt to make the repairs himself.
Damage to Property by Local Youth: It was noted that neighbouring
children have been playing on the museum porch after hours and have
damaged the bench aforementioned. Also they have been damaging the
lattice work in the gazebo and leaving their toys about the property. It was
decided to have the summer students create and post signage stating;
"Access to This Property During Museum Hours Only"
