Secretary Kimberly Legg sends her regrets on being unable to attend meeting Ally Shelly will
take minutes as acting secretary in her absence.
1. Call to Order
Chair Bev Hickey called the meeting to order at 7:02
2. Disclosure of Pecuniary Interest
None
3. Review of Items Not on the Agenda
A clipping from the Tillsonburg News was shared regarding the previous weekends Home and
Garden Show. The Tillsonburg Home and Garden Show is advertising for spots in the 2017
show, payment reservations due in two weeks. The Board is asked to consider involvement at
the next years show.
Due to the small size and venue of the Tillsonburg Show, it is believed that the London Boat
show is the better choice in convention involvement.
All members are in favour of passing on the 2017 Tilllsonburq Home and Garden Show. Carried.
4. Announcements
Chuck Buchanan mentions that an E.O.N meeting will be held Thursday, May 5th 2017 at the St.
Thomas Railway Museum for those interested in attending.

6. Approval of Previous Minutes
(a) It was moved by Matt Schaffer and seconded by Chuck Buchanan that the minutes of the
March, 9 2016 meeting be approved. Motion Carried.
7. Correspondence
7.1 (a) for information only
1. Info from Susan Start regarding old Bayham maps
The Elgin County Archives project with Archives Ontario is making digital access to original maps
of Ontario dating back to 1803. There is an early map of Bayham. Prints can be made as long as
not for commercial use. There was a discussion whether the Museum would be interested in
acquiring a copy of this map to frame and put on display. Susan Start will inquire with the
Archives regarding the possibility of printing and cost a large scale copy of the map.
2. Minutes of the EdisonFest Committee meetings Jan18/16, Feb 15/16 & March 29/16
The committee has been advised that the EdisonFest Committee is a subcommittee of
Museums Bayham.
Matt Schaffer shares the topics discussed at the recent EdisonFest Meetings
Four more volunteers have recently joined
More events are being booked for the festival, castle and a petting zoo. The committee is
looking to have more kid friendly community activities at the festival
EdisonFest will be held the first Saturday in June. In the event of extreme in climate weather
the date will be moved to the following Sunday. Meeting being held next Tuesday to discuss
further.
3. Curator's job posting from Aylmer Express
Acceptance of applications for the Curator's Position closes Friday.
For those who wish to be involved in the hiring process of the curator and students they are
welcome to attend when interviews start.
4. Edison museum pictures in Morelmag.ca
Lynda Millard sends thanks to Chuck & Bev, Marg& Paul she was able to send photos of the
Edison Museum Kitchen Display to Mary Baxter with MorelMag.ca. The images are on display
on the website http://morelmag.ca/article/how-food under Small Appliances and Cookware
and Table Settings.
7.2 (b)Action Required
1. Appointment of Helen & Robert Ronson as co-chairs, Matthew Schafer as Vice-chair& Lynda
Millard as secretary of Edison Fest Committee.
It is discussed and agreed upon that Edison Fest Committee, is mostly made up of those on the
Building Committee and business is under the scope of Museums Bayham's jurisdiction.
Motion made by Ray Maddox, seconded by Ron Bradfield to accept the Edison Fest Committee
information.

9. New Business
1.The Board had met with Council Members to discuss the location of the 2016 Edison Museum
Location
A proposition has been to house the artifacts for static display at the Bayham Family Table
Restaurant at no cost. Council is to make the final decision. Will meet next Thursday to decide
further.
It is discussed whether Bayham Family Table should be given an incentive for the use of the
space. For the assistance of paying rent and hydro. It is mentioned that a possible incentive
equal to the amount one full month's rent from the 2015 season should be provided as a
gratuity.
The Board has requested that Chair discusses with CAO that the suggestions have been made
from committee that we recommend Council to offer gratuity for occupation of space as this is
a municipal project.
Committee will continue to discuss at next meeting.
2. A discussion regarding proper signage is needed at new location for Edison Museum site
takes place.
Signage is required inside and outside of the museum location to direct visitors and to provide
explanation of what site contains. It is suggested that a sign be provided in the park to explain
location and that a 10" by 3'sign be provided within the establishment to explain the edict of
the Edison Museum.
It is requested that professionally made signs be created to establish the location and contents
of the Edison museum, durable signs that can be used for the future endeavors of the Edison
Museum.
Motion was made by Albert White and seconded by Chuck Buchanan to inquire to Council about
signage. Motion carried.
(b) Items from Marine Museum in Kingston to be deaccessioned-
At this point no items of interest are being deaccessioned from the Marin Museum in Kington
have presented themselves to the members. It is suggested that the artifacts that this museum
continues to deaccession be continue to be considered in the future.
(c) Entrance Fees& membership (Susan Start)
Last fall it had been discussed to increase entrance fees to the Marine Museum and Lighthouse.
The Board was to revisit this suggestion in the spring before the 2016 season.
The new entrance fees from the sites were discussed and the following price changes were
suggested:
Marine Museum and Lighthouse Entrance Fees:
Adults (13+)- $3 per person per site $5- For both Marine Museum and Lighthouse
$8-Family Rate One Site $12- Family Rate Both Site
12 and under remain free
An annual museum pass valid for unlimited attendance be offered for$15 for entrance to both
site be offered for a trial for the 2016 season. Passes are to be designed by the curator and
students and printed on cardstock.
Motion made to increase fees by Susan Start, seconded by Ron Bradfield to increase entrance
fees for the 2016 season. Motion carried.
(d) Email Agenda or Paper Agenda- memo from Chairperson
The Board is asked to if members would prefer to have agenda and package emailed before
meeting or to have package printed for meeting.
It is discussed that a copy of each meeting agenda be provided for each member at meetings,
those who wish for a full package can print their own.
One or Two copies will be provided to the meeting for reference for meetings.
The entire meeting package including agenda, past month's minutes and supporting documents
will continue to be provided via email approximately a week before meetings.
Moved by all to cease printing of entire meeting package for all members.
10. Finances
Chair will acquire a copy of the 2016 budget for next meeting. One copy will be kept by the
Chair for future budget inquires.
11. Other Business
(a) It is discussed that the scientific buoy outside of the Maine Museum be pressure washed
and painted during the 2016 season. The buoy has become quite neglected, dirty and is in need
of cleaning and fresh paint.
Paint had been provided by Dulux the previous year, the paint is still being offered at a buy one
get one free offer.
It is requested that the Chair discuss with CAO about the possibility of the public works or
summer students completing this project over the summer.
Bev and Chuck will meet at 10:00am Thursday April 13th at the Marine Museum to discuss
project needs.
(b) Susan start suggests after the hire of the new curator the committee drafts a list of desired
projects to be completed by the summer students for the 2016 season.
List to be created at next month's meeting.

It was moved by Matt Schaffer and seconded by Albert White that the meeting adjourned at
8:24pm.
