Minutes of October 14, 2015 Meeting
Bayham Municipal Office, Straffordville,Ontario
Present: Chair-Bev Hickey, Vice Chair- Chuck Buchanan, Secretary- Lynn Acre,
Matt Schafer, Susan Start, Albert White, Ron Bradfield, Kimberly Legg.
Regrets: Ray Maddox
1. CALL TO ORDER: Chairman called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm
2. DECLARATION OF PECUNIARY INTEREST: None
3. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Chairman Bev asked if we'd like printed agenda packages in
future, along with our emailed copies. Members advised that just the agenda page &the
minutes needed to be printed and NOT the additional supportive info.
4. MINUTES: It was moved by L.Acre and seconded by C.Buchanan that the
minutes of the September 9, 2015 meeting be approved. Motion Carried.
5. CORRESPONDENCE:
a)Action Required:
*London Spring Home & Garden Show: April 15-17, 2015. $825 for 10' X 10' space.
It was decided not to attend this event.
*Ontario Museum Association: invitation to participate in Culture Talks website. It was
decided not to submit comments.
* Email from Rosalind Brenneman —Beach Canal Lighthouse Group of Hamilton&
Burlington—asking for a committee member to speak at their meeting Sunday
November 8, 2015 at 2 pm at the Burlington Library. Chuck Buchanan and Ron
Bradfield agreed to prepare a slideshow presentation. C.Buchanan and B.Hickey will
attend the meeting.
6. UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
a) New Cover for Life Boat: B.Hickey has picked up a new blue lifeboat
cover from Hornsby Canvas. The invoice of$289.00 + HST will be mailed
to the municipality.
b) Larry Lamb Donation of Edison Books: It was decided to defer a
decision regarding these books until archivist Brian Masschaele had made
comments.
7. NEW BUSINESS:
a) Possible New Board Members: After a healthy discussion regarding
new members, it was decided that B.Hickey would seek advice from CAO
confirming new membership process and qualifications.

b) Change to Road Signs: It was suggested that since the closure of the
Edison Museum, perhaps the signage within the municipality should be
altered. (also with the Wind Interpretive Centre signage.) B.Hickey agreed
to discuss this issue with the CAO.
8. FINANCES (Budget):
a) 2016/2017 Draft Budget: Members reviewed and received the
approved draft budget, as amended at our Sept. meeting.
b) Rental Budget: In hindsight, it was noticed that our approved draft
budget did not include monies for the rental for a temporary display of the
Edison Museum. It was moved by C.Buchanan and seconded by M.Schafer
that $2400 ($600 X 4 months) be inserted into the 2016 draft budget for
rental of space for the Edison Museum display. Motion Carried.
c) London Boat Show balance due: B.Hickey reported that the entire
registration fee has been paid for this February 2016 Show.
d) Budget Discussions by Council: Committee members respectfully
request to be informed when Council plans to discuss the Museums Bayham
budget so that they may plan to attend.
9. OTHER BUSINESS:
a) Edison Fundraiser Dinner Update: L.Acre reported that tickets are now
available from herself, Albert White & Matt Schafer. They are $20 each.
b) Aylmer Express articles: Chairman B.Hickey passed around a copy of
the article & photos included in the September 30th article.
10. NEXT MEETING: Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at 7:00 pm at the
Municipal office.
11. ADJOURNMENT: It was Moved by R.Bradfield that the meeting be
adjourned at 8:20 pm.
