Date: Ally Shelly, Secretary Bev Hickey, Chair Curator's Report December 2019 Collections All the artifacts from the summer exhibit have been returned to their place in storage or on display. The fishing exhibit has been collected from Queen's Park in Toronto. We will be able to use the text panels prepared by the staff there for our own use. Exhibits and Events I have had good luck searching our files for material for next year's exhibit, Beach Life in Port Burwell. The first draft of the exhibit text is done, and I have a list of artifacts to borrow from other Elgin County museums and the archive. I finalized the exhibit text for the drill bits and laminated it so it is ready to install. Staff It has been a great year for the Marine Museum, with more activities than before. I look forward to next year's events and summer students. Curator's Report January 2020 Collections The fishing exhibit text panels from Queen's Park in Toronto have been adapted to fit in our exhibit space. The wall was patched so it is now all white. While patching, I decided to continue on other areas in the museum and have reduced the unsightly spots to a minimum. I have been "collecting" images of Port Burwell of the past from several online sources, including the Elgin County Archives. Some are private photographs shared on social media and there are numerous informative comments that I also save. It has increased our computer collection of images greatly, and some will be making their way into the new exhibit. Exhibits and Events I contacted the Elgin County Archives for a key photograph for the Welcome Wall, and researched to find a printing place that can produce the large size I want. With Margaret's permission, I have purchased the rights to use the photograph and have placed the print order. Other photographic images have been collected and will support the wall text I've prepared from researching our files and other sources, and along with an assortment of artifacts both from our collection, several private loans, and from other museums, the exhibit is shaping up. A scouting group made contact and will be visiting in late May. They will take the educational program on light and sound, and go up the lighthouse. Staff The desktop computer began to show signs of aging and was removed. I have shifted all the files over to the "Curator's Laptop", one of the three laptops provided last summer. I attended a meeting with the organization "Beyond The Blackboard" in London and will be formally joining. This group focuses on educational programming for schools and it is hoped that we will be able to attract school groups through their network. EON will be preparing an educational program brochure and our program on light and sound will be included. Margaret and I have seen the first draft and it looks very nice. 0Pero- m--rl rvG- Municipality of Bayham 2020-2021 Museums 2016 2017 2018 2019 2019 2020 2021 Actuals Actuals Actuals Actuals Budget Budget Budget Revenues 4550-4110 Grants & Subsidies 1 8,_2 2-91 15,883 15,007 11,000 11,000 11,000 4550-4130 Admissions 6,0261 6,405 4,999 5,000 5,000 5,000 4550-4170 Children's Programs 90i 0 0 100 100 100 4550-4120 Sundry 1,2811 582 475 100 100 100 4550-4190 Contribution from Reserves 01 5,839 0 01 0 0 25,625 28,708 20,481 16,200 16,200 16,200 Expenditures 4550-5100 Salaries & Wages 27,249 30,441 35,153 35,346 37,553 38,304 4550-5110 Statutory Benefits 1,935 2,023 2,328 3,121 3,183 3,247 4550-5170 Office Supplies 43 84 432 125 125 125 4550-5190 Children's Programs 52 25' 0 50 50 50 4560-5200 Building Renovations 0 0 0 0 0 0 4550-5210 Utilities 7,206 6,479 6,092 5,074 5,226 5,383 4550-5240 Advertising 1,655 931 1,031 1,500 1,500 1,500 4550-5245 Marketing 0 0 0 0 0 0 4550-5250 Memberships 2521 252 202 250 250 250 4550-5270 Building Maintenance 4,0271 3,162 2,545 3,000 3,000 3,000 4550-5280 Equipment Maintenance 969 197 0 1,250 1,250 1,250 4550-5290 Grounds Maintenance 3,601 5,853 2,180 1,950 1,950 1,950 4550-5300 Insurance 2,699 2,902 3,053 3,189 3,348 3,516 4550-5360 Telephone 1,007 711 589 990 990 990 4550-5340 Conferences & Seminars 0 0 0 50 50 50 4550-5350 Travel 0 0 0 50 50 50 4550-5370 Sundry 157 418 484 450 450 450 4550-5600 Special Project (Curator) 498 276 84 0 0 0 4550-5620 4550-5610 Rental - Edison Special Events 0 01 1,531 24 0 0 0 10 0 0 0 0 51,3501 55,309 54,173 56,395 58,976 60,115 -25,725 -26,601 -33,693 -40,195 -42,776 -43,915 FUND RAISING Revenue: 4550-4180 Fundraising 6,036 0 0 0 0 0 4550-4185 Donations 1 3,049 01 0 0 0 0 9,085 01 0 0 0 0 Expenditures: 4550-5180 j Fundraising expense 4550-5400 Transfer to Reserves 6,763 2,323 9,085 0 0_ 0 0 0 0 01 0 0 0 01 01 0 0 01 0' 0 0 0 0 0 28
