HomeMy WebLinkAbout09/12/2018 - Museums Bayham MUSEUMS BAYHAM BOARD MINUTES Bayham Municipal Office, Trackless Lounge 56169 Heritage Line, Straffordville September 12th, 2018, at 7:00 pm Present: Vice Chair- Chuck Buchanan, Bob Graham, Albert White, Ally Shelly, Jeff Robinson, Lynda Millard, Bayham Staff Resource: Margaret Underhill Regrets: Chair-Bev Hickey, Ron Bradfield, and Matt Schafer 1. Call to Order In place of Bev Hickey's absence Vice Chair Chuck Buchanan called the meeting to order at 7:01 pm Wednesday September 12th, 2018. 2. Disclosure of Pecuniary Interest None 3. Review of Items not on Agenda None 4. Announcements (a) The part-time curator position for 2019 has been extended and accepted by Jennifer Beauchamp. 5. Delegations None 6. Minutes (a) Motion to adopt minutes of August 8th, 2018 Museums Bayham meeting as presented. Moved by Albert White, seconded Bob Graham, to accept minutes. All in Favour. 7. Correspondence 7.1 Receive for Information (a) Curator's Reports for August 2018 (attached)- Curator's report was reviewed by Board Members. Motion to accept Curator's Report as information. Moved by Jeff Robinson, seconded by Lynda Millard. All in Favour. Museums Bayham Board Minutes September 12/18 2 (b) Student Report for August/September 2018 and 2018 Season Final Report- (attached) The monthly report was received prior to the meeting and is missing visitor numbers for September 2 and 3. Monthly Report will be amended and provided for the next meeting. The Student Year-End report was reviewed by Board Members. Motion to defer Student's Reports . Moved by Albert White, seconded by Bob Graham. All in Favour. (c) Museum & Lighthouse Attendance Comparison 2015-2018 (to date)- Motion to receive Attendance comparison was reviewed by Board Members. Numbers will be confirmed and if necessary amended for the next meeting. 7.2 Action Required Margaret Underhill will revise and update the Museum and Lighthouse 2018 attendance Reports with the missing numbers for the October meeting. 8. Unfinished Business Arising for the Minutes: 8.1 (a) Museum & Lighthouse Attendance Numbers. Civic Long Weekend 2016-2018- previously requested by Albert White was reviewed by Board Members. b) Wheelhouse Project status report-verbal report by C. Buchanan and Albert White Chuck and Albert report that the angle iron legs have been cut by Ron Bradfield, Albert White, and crew according to building plans. Chuck and Albert picked up the legs this morning, the feet need to be bolted on, once Wheelhouse is levelled with jacks. The upstairs level will be reinforced with steel pipes. Work will be completed depending on the weather. Municipality has arranged for sidewalk entrance to be modified. Work will be completed middle to end October. Chuck asks about sidewalk plans, concerned about previous water drainage. c) E.O.N. Update Chuck Buchanan provides an update on the new regional map and guide, explaining the new guide will be more modern with more locations included. Chuck asks Ally Shelly to provide an update from the Elgin County Museum. Ally shares that the plans are to shorten the text to provide more room for more museum listings. More institutions will be targeted to broaden the scope of brochure locations. The text will be shortened, website information should cover most details. Brochure's cover photos still need to be adjusted and confirmed. Museums Bayham Board Minutes September 12/18 3 9. New Business 9.1 None 10. Finances (Budget) Margaret Underhill will prepare a 3/4 year report in October to review the 2018 year. 11. Other Business Events: Lynda Millard reports on Bayham Historical Society Events: September 11 BHS meeting at 36 Victoria Street, Port Burwell at 7 pm BHS meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of every month. The next meeting is October 9th 2018, location to be determined. November 10 Edison Dinner& Silent Auction "Harvest Moon & 30 Years of Edison in Vienna" dinner will be held at the Vienna Community Centre. BHS is hoping 200 tickets will be sold this year. Meal take out, and delivery options will be available this year for those unable to attend the event. Edison items are on display at Hamilton, Ward, and Cathers in Straffordville. Items from the exhibit at the Bayham Family Table are still there, BHS is in search of a new location for displays. Next Meeting: Wednesday, October 10th, 2018. 12.
