(a) Bev attended the Gay Lea Dairy Museum Co-opalooza event June 23rd — over
1000 attended the event. Many thanks to Bev Hickey for taking a museum
display to the event.
(b) Bev attended the Elgin Historical Society Strawberry Social held at the
Lighthouse- 18 people attended for ice cream/strawberries and they made a
$75.00 donation to the Municipality for the Lighthouse. All the members were
shown the Lighthouse and the Marine Museum- event ended about 8:30 p.m.
(c) Museum/Library's Children's program: offered from July 10th-August 14th
every Tuesday 1-2 p.m. at the Museum and 2-3 p.m. at the Port Burwell Library.
Experiencing good attendance. Margaret reports that it has been a great
partnership and there is hopes to repeat it next year.
(d) The Wheelhouse was placed at the Museum on July 20th and is awaiting
continued restoration. Chuck Buchanan explains the next plans awaiting the
Wheelhouse. The next job is to level, and to connect the angle-iron feet, and legs to
the concrete, and add the skirting. The supports inside need to be added under the
upper deck, and stairway. The partitions which had been removed for the move need
to need to be reinstalled to stabilize the upper pilot house.
Albert White asks Margaret Underhill if the back area of the Wheelhouse could be
useful to the Marine Museum for more exhibit or storage space. Jennifer Beauchamp
will be consulted regarding the use of extra space for museum purposes.

(e) Lynda Millard sent updates via email regarding the Bayham Historical Society's
announcements:
"Further to closure of the Bayham's Family Table restaurant on July 15, it was also the closing of our
Edison& Bayham displays there.
On the 215, we held the Edison Mystery Cruise with BBQ chicken supper at the VCC. The combination of
the construction detours, iffy weather& the fear of cruisers getting their vehicle wet/dirty had a big
affect on attendance.
Our student put together several TV area events, pictures¶des of interest over the years which we
had on TV display at the restaurant& also at the VCC for the Cruise.
Other info for update is that the BHS will not be participating in the Talbot Trail of Yard Sales on August
18 due to the sewer& road re-construction going on in Vienna. I am copying my email to Brenda&
Leann so they will both know about the BHS cancellation of TTYS in Vienna at the Park.
1 have put notice on our sign in Vienna, however there is little traffic going through Vienna except on the
weekends which is bringing lots of Provincial Park goers through, 1 am told.
As well, the BHS summer student Jessica& I finished installing 2 displays in the window at the Hamilton,
Ward& Cathers insurance office at the main four corners in Straffordville. The displays are in their front
window along Plank Rd, visible anytime&free to the public! Their staff were pleased to see the displays
go in.
The BHS will be meeting at 7:00 pm on August 14 at 36 Victoria St in Pt Burwell. We will be setting the
wheels rolling for our annual Edison Dinner at the VCC on Saturday November 10. The theme is
combined with Harvest Moon& Celebrating 30 years of Edison! Dinner Tickets will be available soon."
Chuck Buchanan inquires after any Marine Museum items that had been loaned to the BHS.
Chuck asked specifically about the display case, but was unsure if any other items had been
loaned. Jennifer Beauchamp will be consulted regarding any items
loaned as she assisted with the Bayham Family Table exhibits. Margaret Underhill will
inquire with Lynda Millard to confirm any other loans.

8. Unfinished Business Arising for the Minutes:
(a) Vent Install at Lighthouse
Chuck Buchanan reports that the airflow issue in the Lighthouse has been solved. Ron
Bradfield was unable to complete the vent replacement using his bucket lift. An individual
completing work at the United Church was using a different lift and was asked if he could
assist at the Lighthouse. The individual suggested the use of a different vent, a power vent
so a new 2000CFM fan with speed controls was installed. Vent is now circulating air and
working well.
