MINUTES

1. Call to Order
Vice Chair Bev Hickey called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm Wednesday May 09th,
2018.

6. Minutes
(a) Motion to adopt minutes of April 11th, 2018 Museums Bayham meeting as
presented.
Moved by Chuck Buchanan, seconded Bob Graham, to accept minutes. All in Favour.

7. Correspondence
7.1 Receive for Information
(a) Curator's Reports for April 2018 (attached)-
Curator's report was reviewed by Board Members.
Motion to accept Curator's Report as information. Moved by Chuck Buchanan,
seconded by Albert White. All in Favour.
(b) Backus-Page House Museum event flyer "The Road to Culloden" May 19-20,2018
The Road to Culloden event flyer was shared with members to announce event.
(c) Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs- 2018 Premier's Award for Agri-
Food
Margaret Underhill shares award information with the board. The Ministry of Agriculture is
circulating information to members of the community for the nomination of eligible
individuals for 2018 Premier's Award for Agri-Food.
(d) Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration — Champion and Diversity Award
Margaret Underhill shares award information with the board. The Ministry of Citizenship
and Immigration is circulating information to members of the community for the nomination
of eligible individuals for 2018 Champion and Diversity Award.
(e) Wheelhouse Project- Port Burwell Historical Society invitation to sod-breaking to
at the Museum
Chuck Buchanan shares an invitation to the Board members to attend the sod breaking
at the Marine Museum if anyone is able to attend. Captain Metz, the former Captain of
the Fern Glen will be in attendance with his wife.
They are expected to arrive at 1:00 pm. Sod Breaking is to take place at 1:30 pm.
Albert White has laid the concrete to prepare for the move. Concrete was completed
today, May 9'h. The sidewalk is to be started by next week, hopefully finished by the
Museum's opening day.

8. Unfinished Business Arising for the Minutes:
(a) Lighthouse Siding Repair— CHIC Liquid Vinyl International Ltd. Email
correspondence
Margaret Underhill is disappointed to announce that CHIC has said they are unable to
assist with the vinyl siding of the Lighthouse because it is wood. Board members will
continue with the trial of slicing the pocketing vinyl to allow drying and reapplying the
detached pieces.
Ron Bradfield will be asked formally to use his bucket lift to change the vent in the
Lighthouse to a turbine vent. The vent should help with air circulation. Chuck Buchanan
will measure the pipe to ensure the vent base will fit properly.
(b) Elgin Historical Society (EHS) Strawberry Social @ Lighthouse June 27— call for
volunteers to staff Lighthouse
Bev Hickey volunteered to be at the EHS Strawberry Social for 6:30 on June 27.
(c) Co-opalooza Event: at the Gay Lea Dairy Museum — Invitation to set up a display
The event will be held June 231d from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will require volunteers to
host an information display for the Marine Museum and Lighthouse. The event will require
a table, items such as the ship models and lighthouse from the Marine Museum and
brochures. Bev Hickey volunteered to staff the table for the day.
9. New Business
(a) Display Cases from Gaylea Dairy Heritage Museum
Chuck has received a notice that with Gaylea's new curator the Dairy Heritage Museum is
under reorganization. Gaylea is offering up a large display case that has been in their front
exhibit area. Chuck discussed the item with Jennifer Beauchamp and the Board agreed it
would be useful at the Marine Museum. The case is approximately 9 feet long and weighs
200 to 300 pounds and will require a truck to move. Bev Hickey and Albert White
volunteered their trailers to move the case.
Chuck will meet again with Jennifer Beauchamp to discuss moving details.

11. Other Business
(a) Ron Bradfield inquired about the cleaning of the Lighthouse before the opening day.
Margaret Underhill stated that the cleaning was completed last week by Ramona Peidl.
Both the Marine Museum and Lighthouse have been cleaned.
Margaret also adds that student orientation starts Tuesday, May 15th and the Museum
opens Thursday May 17th for the 2018 season.
(b) Bev Hickey thanks Chuck Buchanan, Margaret Underhill and the Board for conducting
last month's meeting in his absence.
(c) Date of the Next Meeting: June 13th, 2018.
