Minutes of the 17th meeting of the Council of the Village of Port P,.rwell, held in tt a mu icipal Eall,on October 6, 1958 Members Present: Reeve H.O.Alward,Councilors,K.Baird,John Balthes. The meeting was called to order by Reeve Alward at 8:15 Pm. The minutes of the last regular meeting was read and approved and ordered signed haxthmx . Next Mr.W.E.Patchell,Manager of the Can.Pank of Commerce,at Straffordville,waa asked by the Ckairman,if there -was anything that he would like to discuss with the Co"ncil, he said he had come to the meeting to discuss with the Council the resolution passed by Council on August llth,re additional help requested by the Council for the Port Burwell Branch,on Mondays,Wednesdays, Fridays during the busy summer months. .After discussing some of ways in which this problem could be met,he said he would talk over this matter with his superior on his next visit to Straffordville, and would endeavour to have additional help supplied. oth Moved by K.Baird,seconded by John Balthes, that the village Council, appoint Mr.Stewart Broon,as a member of the Council to fill the vacancy for the remainder of the year , CARR # 65 Next was the swearing in of Mr.Stewart"Brown for the office Councilor for the balance of 1958 by the Clerk. After Mr.Ralph Hurley,was heard re condition of George Srmatrong' s property ,next door to him. there was a motion by John Balthes, seconded by S. S.Brown, THAT the Village Council instruct the Building Inspector to withdraw the building permit from tke property of George Armstrong, for the reason that the work carried out on the same does not comply with By-Law of the Village. CARR. #66 Moved by S. S.Brown, seconded by R.Baird, that the Court of Revision consisting of the Village Council sit in the Municipal Hall on the evening of Monday October 27, at 8:00 P.Mi1 Std time. AL&;ust 11, 1:f58 4 Minutes of the 15th meeting of tl a Village Council,of the Corporation of the Village of Port Burwell,held in the Municipal Hall,on the evening of Monday August 11th -58. The meeting was called to order at apiJroximately 8:30 P.M.by Reeve H.G.Alward, Councilors,present : K.Baird,and A.E'vely. "4 Also present was J. Thomas,Geo Meensim Horvath;Mr.Joe Thomas had come to protest the making of Pro-107a one-way street, claiming that action by the Village Council,was causing much confusion and congestion of traffic on this street,and would likely affect tourist to some extent . After some discussion on this problem by Council,it was the general opinion of the Council that Mr.Thomas' protest was well founded, and orders would be given to the have the one-way signs removed , ` First in line of business was the reading of the minutes of the last regular and special meetings, and ,vith no coreections,or deletions,o: additions, the Reeve ordered the minutes adopted as read. Next was a summary of accounts payable by the Village,after which there was a motion by K.Baird, seconded by A.Evely, that accounts No.1 to 48 on voucher i7 be paid and the Reeve be authorized to sign the same. 11E5.57 CARR P'ext was the reading of the correspondence, which consisted of two lettere from the highway department,and the. resignation of Councilor, Mr.Don Axford. After which there was a motion by K.Baird, seconded by A.Evely,that the Council accept Mr.Donald Axford' s resignation as Village Councilor,as he does not •vish to act on Council . RES.h 58 CARR. Motion by A.Evely,seconded by K.Baird, that the Village Clerk write the Canadian Bank of Commerce at Straffordville asking for extra help RES 59 for the Port Purwell,Branch on Monday Wednesday,and Fridays,during the busy summer months. The Clerk was also instructed to send to Mr.Ron McNeil,M.P.P.a copy of a resolution made by the Chamber of Conmerce,and agrred to by the Village Council, on November 22/57.
