1. Call to Order
Chair Bev Hickey calls the meeting to order at 7:02 December 14th, 2016

4. Announcements
Welcome Bob Graham the newest member of the Museums Bayham Board.
Bev Hickey, thanks Bob on behalf of the board for showing an interest and joining the
committee.

6. Minutes
(a) Motion to adopt minutes of October 12th, 2016 Museum Meeting.
Moved by Chuck Buchanan, Seconded Albert White by to accept minutes. All in Favour.
A November 2016 meeting was not held.

a) Chairpersons Report
b) Seniors Grant
An email from Jo Ann Hutchison of the Ministry of Tourism and Sport has been received.
Applications for Senior's Community Grants for the 2017 year have been opened. Grant will
give funding to programs encouraging seniors to be involved in the community, learn new skills
and lead active lives. Currently, the Marine Museum programs do not suit this criteria, Jennifer
Beauchamp will be asked if she can create or see the benefits of creating a program to suit this
grant. Possibly, a program that involves both students and seniors, such as an oral history
project and encourages seniors continued volunteerism in the community.
Motion to ask Jennifer Beauchamp, curator, to create seniors related program from this grant
Moved By Ray Maddox, Seconded by Albert White. All in Favour
Lynda Millard will discuss with Jennifer and provide update at next meeting.
c) Volunteer Service Awards Due January 25th 2017
Admissions for nominees for the Volunteer service awards are due January 25th, 2017.
Ray Maddox, Chuck Buchanan, Bev Hickey, Ron Bradfield and Matt Schaffer have served on the
Museums Bayham Board for ten years, Albert White has been on the Board for five years.
Resolution has been made to recommend that Council supports and nominates these
candidates for Volunteer Service Awards.
Motion to have Council endorse nominees made by Ally Shelly, Seconded by Bob Graham. All in
Favour.
d) Ships Model from St. Thomas picked up by Chuck Buchanan
Chuck Buchanan went to May Riley's residence and picked up six model ships that were to be
donated to the Marine Museum. Amanda, curator of the Aylmer Museum and Archives
recommended the Marine Museum as suitable institution to acquire these models. Models had
been made by May Riley's late husband. Models are handmade, some are working remote
controlled models.
Donation form has been signed. Bev Hickey will send Mrs. Riley a letter of thanks regarding her
donation.
e) London Boat Show
The London Boat Show will be held February 24th, 25th and 26th.
The volunteers that will tend the display at the Boat Show will be determined at the February
meeting.
8. Changes to the items at the Bayham Family Table restaurant from the Edison Museum.
Lynda Millard appraised Jennifer Beauchamp's display changes to the Edison exhibit at the
Bayham Family Table. Display now has a Christmas theme and is very well done, receiving a
great deal of admiration.
9. New members for the Museums Bayham Committee report from Margaret Underhill
Report informs the Board that Bob Graham has been selected to join the Committee.
Thanks given again to Bob for joining.
10. Staff Resource Margaret Underhill re. Contact information update
A request will be sent to Margaret Underhill to provide the Board with a copy of the member's
contact list for the February meeting.
11. Life Boat covered at the Marine Museum
Thanks to Chuck Buchanan for covering the Lifeboat at the Marine Museum
12. Any Other Items for Discussion
a)New Meeting Space
Bev Hickey will inquire regarding the meeting space at the new municipal building. Location
details will be provided before the next meeting
b) Bayham Historical Society, Report to Council
Darya Rousseau the new president of the Bayham Historical Society has sent a message to
Council regarding the changes and plans for the Bayham Historical Society's strategy for the
Edison Museum.
A meeting is not required at this time, message to be received as information.
Ray Maddox will speak to the new executive of the Bayham Historical Society to inquire if he is
to remain the society's representative or if they wish to appoint another.
c) Paint Storage at Marine Museum
Ron Bradfield explains approximately 25 cans of paint that are stored by the furnace at the
Marine Museum, which is a fire hazard. It is suggested that a new cabinet is acquired to store
the paint properly.
Motion to purchase or acquire (if able) a steel storage cabinet was made.
Moved by Ron Bradfield, Seconded by Bob Graham. All in Favour.
d) King Street Maintenance
That the Museums Bayham committee have discussed concerns raised regarding King Street in
Vienna. The street from North Street up to the Edison Pioneer Cemetery is poorly kept and
unappealing to local residents and visitors.
It is recommend that Council ensure that King Street and road allowance to cemetery be treated
the same as other municipal streets. Public Works should regularly tend the gravel and roadside,
in accordance to grass cutting standards, spring through autumn; and that Council considers
including the cost to an existing contractor's agreement during 2017 operating budget discussion
in January.
Motion to recommend that these concerns be address by Council moved by Lynda Millard,
Seconded by Ray Maddox. All in Favour.
e) Paint on Lighthouse
Albert White raises concerns about the paint on the South side of the Lighthouse. The paint is
bubbling away from the building. The paint was guaranteed for 40 years, it is suggested that
the company that painted the lighthouse be contact in the first steps examine what the future
needs may be.
f) Wheelhouse
Ray Maddox makes an inquiry regarding the Wheelhouse. Chuck Buchanan reports that a grant
from the East Elgin Foundation has been received. The next stages of work will begin when the
weather improves.
13. Date of the next Museum Meeting
Ally Shelly informs the Board that she will be unable to attend the January meeting, and
suggests appointing an acting secretary.
Members are unable to fill position and discuss the necessity of a January meeting.
It is determined that all new business can wait until the February meeting.
Motion passed to hold no January meeting moved by Ron Bradfield, seconded by Matt Schaffer.

Next meeting to be held February 8th, 2017.
