Chair Bev Hickey calls the meeting to order at 7:01 July 13th 2016

6. Minutes
(a) Motion to adopt minutes of June 15th, 2016 Museum Meeting
Moved by Susan Start,Seconded by Matt Schaffer to accept minutes.All in Favour.
(b)Minutes of the May 31'EdisonFest Committee Meeting- For Information
Matt Schaffer reports that EdisonFest was very successful.
(c)Minutes of the June 24th Friends of Edison Committee- For Information
Friends of Edison was formed after Edison Fest as a separate organization to fundraise for the
museum.
(d) Minutes of the June 16th E.O.N Meeting—For Information
7.Correspondence
a)June Monthly Report from students at Marine Museum. Chuck Buchanan Reports that the
Scientific Buoy has been painted,the wasp nest inside has been taken care of by Public Works.
b)The possibility of Social Media being created for Museums Bayham; pending approval of
Municipal Standards on social media policies. Council should be asked for info regarding
information and policies on these standards.
c)Jennifer Beauchamp has concerns about an old fire extinguisher at the museum; concerns
regarding safety and relevance to collection.
Topic was discussed and determined that these types of extinguishers are considered relevant to
the collection as they were used on ships.The extinguisher is empty and was most likely reviewed
in the past for safety concerns, but Chuck Buchanan has contacted the Fire Department to make
an appointment to ensure safe deactivation.
d) Bev Hickey Reports that the Fire Departments sign that had been at the Marine Museum site has
been moved to the Fire Hall.
e) Chuck Buchanan reports that the vents at the Marine Museum have yet to be replaced.
Public Works needs to be contacted.
Students at Marine Museum emailed Chuck Buchanan to inform him that the air conditioner was
not working. Margret Underhill was emailed and Public Works repaired the air conditioner
quickly.
f) Council has received the suggestion of adding a "Care and Acquisitions" Line to
the Budget, no decision has been made at this time.
g) Bev Hickey has emailed Kimberly Legg to thank and accept her resignation as secretary. Kim is
willing to volunteer occasionally.
8) Posting for vacancy for new members for Museums Bayham has been posted on the Municipality
of Bayham website.Applications close August 5th, 2016
b)The bicycle group will be in Port Burwell on Friday,August 5th 2016. Bev Hickey plans to open the
Marine Museum at 9:00 am to ensure facilities are open if there are those who wish to tour.
c) Bev Hickey made the decision to send in application to the 2017 Boat Show,to not lose out on the
Early Bird Special.
Starting price for the RV Show is$575. RV Show organizers will be meeting in September to
discuss matching Boat Show Price for Museums Bayham involvement . Depending on response
given, Board will discuss entering RV Show for 2018.
Boat Show application has been sent and paid in full.
d) No new info regarding the Talbot Maps.Susan Start will contact the Archives for updates.
9) New Business
E-mail from Ron Bradfield regarding the possible sale of land by the lighthouse.The property has
not been sold at this time; the items do not need to be moved presently.
Email has been received as information; action at this time would be premature. A resolution will
be made at a later date when sale is eminent.
b) Information sessions for Ontario 150 programs
Anyone interested in participating in information sessions is encouraged to apply.

a) Museums- Edison Museum Report CAO-51/16
It was suggested that if the Edison Committee wish to pursue project, investigation should be
made to run as a private institution.The stipulations are that the site must be run as a museum.
Report CAO-51/16 has been received as information.
b)Community Exhibits Program
Jennifer Beauchamp emailed regarding application for a display case exhibit for the Community
Exhibits Program in the Ontario Legislature. Application is due by November.Jennifer will present
plans for display. Committee will provide any support required.
12. Adjournment
It was moved by Bev Hickey, seconded by Matt Schaffer to adjourn at 8:45. All in favour.
