The regular meeting of Council of the Municipality of Bayham was held at 9:00 a.m. on
Thursday, January 8, 1998 in the Council Chambers. Present were, Mayor Max Stewart, Deputy
Mayor Jack Petrie (left at 12:00 noon and returned at 4:50 p.m.), Councillors David Mason, John
Nezezon and Ken Nesbitt, Administrator/Treasurer Lynn S. Buchner, Planning and Community
Services Co-ordinator Maureen Beatty, and Clerk/Deputy Treasurer Lynda Millard.
1. CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Max Stewart called the meeting to order at 9:02 a.m.
2. DISCLOSURE OF PECUNIARY INTEREST AND THE GENERAL NATURE
THEREOF
Deputy Mayor Jack Petrie disclosed a pecuniary interest and the general nature thereof
with regard to Item 6.3 (a) as he is an agent for the applicant.
3. MINUTES & BUSINESS ARISING OUT OF THE MINUTES
The Administrator/Treasurer advised that the last Minutes of Council Meetings of the
former Township of Bayham, Village of Port Burwell and Village of Vienna will be
presented to Council at its next regular meeting on January 22,1998.

Van Loy and Estate of Maria Van Loy to sever a lot with a frontage of 60.96 metres
along Calton Line.

"THAT the County of Elgin Land Division Committee be advised that the Council
of the Corporation of the Municipality of Bayham recommends that Consent
Application E-113/97 by Leo Van Loy & Edna Van Loy & Estate of Maria Van Loy
to sever a lot with a frontage of 60.96 metres along Calton road and a depth of 68.53
metres, proposed to create one new lot for residential purposes be approved subject
to the following condition:
• That any survey plan prepared be deposited with the Municipal Clerk."

(b) Councillor David Mason informed Council of an `Agreement in Principle' recently
signed by the former Village of Port Burwell with the Ministry of Ocean and Fisheries
which will transfer title of the harbour to the municipality. He further explained that this
transaction would be subject to this Council's approval and that the Ministry has, as
conditions of the agreement, committed to undertaking a list of improvements to the pier,
break wall and the south-west channel prior to transferring the title.

Councillor's Handbooks were also presented by Administrator/Treasurer Lynn S. Buchner.
