COUNCIL MINUTES THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF BAYHAM P.O. Box 160, 9344 Plank Road STRAFFORDVILLE,ONTARIO Thursday,January 20, 1999-- man 7:00 p.m. The regular meeting of Council of the Municipality of Bayham, was held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2000 in Council Chambers. Present were Mayor Max Stewart, Deputy Mayor John Nezezon, Councillors David Mason,Mathew Schafer and Cliff Evanitski, Administrator Kyle Kruger and Clerk Lynda Millard. 1. CALL TO ORDER Mayor Max Stewart called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. 2. DISCLOSURE OF PECUNIARY INTEREST & THE GENERAL NATURE THEREOF Councillor D. Mason disclosed a pecuniary interest in item 7.1(d) as he lives on Elizabeth Street South. 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Minutes of the Regular Meeting held January 6, 2000 2000-23 Moved by D. Mason Seconded by M. Schafer "THAT the minutes of the regular meeting of the Municipality of Bayham held January 6, 2000 be approved." Disposition: Motion Carried Unanimously DECLARATION OF BAYHAM SESQUICENTENNIAL Mayor Stewart gave a brief outline of the recent history of the Municipality, noting that 150th celebration activities, with the theme "Reflections & Connections"would take place throughout all communities of Bayham on July 22" and 23`d. Mayor Stewart added that a$150 investment certificate would be presented to the first boy and girl baby born in 2000 to parents residing in Bayham at the time of birth. The Mayor encouraged everyone to watch for upcoming promotion articles featuring "Bayham Bert©", mascot of the Bayham 150/2000 Committee, and plan to participate in the celebration festivities. 4. DELEGATIONS (a) 7:05 p.m.—Bryce Sibbick,Frank Cowan Insurance,was present to assist with clarification for Council and the volunteers in attendance regarding questions about Municipal insurance coverage. Mr. Sibbick advised that municipal staff, councillors and members of boards or committees of council are covered. He noted that coverage exists where Council has authority to appoint or remove committee member. COUNCIL MINUTES - 12 - January 20,2000 4. DELEGATIONS(continued) (a) Mr. Sibbick also noted that any funds would be accounted for in the records of the municipality. Any independent groups would require their own coverage for any activities they are involved with. Volunteers recruited by committees and boards of council to assist with particular functions are covered. (b) 8:00 p.m.—Randy Underhill, Jesse Dennis and Douglas Dennis,provided a brief overview of past history and requested the municipality to share costs in regard to determining the legal status of and assumption of McQuiggan Line as a municipal road. To be brought forward at the next meeting of Council to be held February 3rd File: A16 (j) Correspondence dated December 1999 from the Ministry of Citizenship, Culture and Recreation requesting nominations for membership in The Order of Ontario. Schafer "THAT Staff Report D2000-04 be received; AND THAT Staff be authorized and directed to provide a letter stating no objection to the issuance of a licence by the Ministry of Transportation to Mr. Randy Underhill which would permit the repair of trucks owned by the trucking business at 54990 Nova Scotia Line, more particularly described as South Part Lot 9, Concession 9,Assessment Roll No. 34-01-000-001-08800-0000."
